These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Cybentis Oy (Business ID: 3593125-1), a company registered in Finland, doing business as Affair ("we," "us," or "our"). They govern your access to and use of the Affair event platform at affair.events and all related services (the "Services").
By creating an account, buying a ticket, registering for an event, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

1. The Services
Affair is an event platform. The Services let organizers:
- Create events and publish event pages and websites
- Sell tickets and collect registrations, RSVPs, and payments
- Manage an audience/CRM and send event email
- Run check-in, networking, and media (photo/video) galleries
- Receive payouts of ticket revenue
and let attendees discover events, buy tickets or register, attend, and use event features.
Our primary platform runs in the European Union. Some authentication, payment, email, AI, and analytics components involve approved third-party providers, as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may modify, update, or discontinue features at any time, with reasonable notice of material changes that affect your use of the Services.
2. Accounts
To use most features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate registration information, keep your credentials confidential, notify us of unauthorized access, and remain responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, are used fraudulently, or remain inactive for an extended period.
3. Organizers
3.1 Your responsibility for your events
You are solely responsible for your events — their content, accuracy, legality, pricing, delivery, cancellation, and for honoring tickets and registrations you sell. Affair provides the platform; Affair is not the organizer of, and is not responsible for, any event.
3.2 You are a data controller
When you collect attendee data through the Services (registrations, audience lists, photos, networking data), you are the data controller and Affair acts as your processor under our data processing terms. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect attendee data, providing your own privacy notice to attendees, and obtaining any consents required — including for media galleries and the optional face-liveness feature.
3.3 Acceptable events
You may not use the Services to sell tickets to or promote events that are illegal, fraudulent, hateful, or that infringe third-party rights, and you may not collect special-category data from attendees without a lawful basis and appropriate safeguards.
4. Payments, fees, and payouts
4.1 Payment processing
Ticket payments and organizer payouts are processed by Stripe. To receive funds you must connect a Stripe account and accept Stripe's terms. Stripe collects and holds identity and payout information directly under its own terms; Affair does not store full card numbers.
4.2 Organizer as merchant; Affair fees
Unless stated otherwise for your plan, the organizer is the merchant of record for ticket sales to its attendees and is responsible for delivering the event, taxes on ticket sales, refunds, and chargebacks. Affair charges platform fees and/or subscription fees as described on our pricing page. Stripe's processing fees are separate and shown separately, not buried.
4.3 Subscriptions
Subscription plans are billed in advance, renew automatically, and may be cancelled at any time from account settings, taking effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not refund partial billing periods except where required by law. We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice before your next billing cycle.
4.4 Refunds to attendees
Refunds, exchanges, and cancellations for tickets are determined by the organizer's stated policy for that event. Affair facilitates refunds through Stripe at the organizer's instruction but is not responsible for an organizer's refund decisions or for an organizer's failure to deliver an event.
5. Attendees
When you buy a ticket or register for an event, your contract for the event itself is with the organizer, not Affair. The organizer sets the event terms, pricing, and refund policy. Affair provides the ticketing and attendance technology. Direct event questions, refund requests, and complaints to the organizer. Tickets and QR codes are for your use and may not be resold or transferred except as the organizer permits.
6. Your data and content
6.1 Ownership
You retain all rights to the content and data you submit ("Your Content") — event pages, media, audience lists, and so on. We do not claim ownership.
6.2 License to us
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and display Your Content solely to provide and improve the Services. This license ends when you delete the content or close your account, subject to backups and legal retention.
6.3 Media galleries and biometric features
If you enable photo/video galleries and the optional face-liveness feature, you are responsible for the consents and disclosures required where you operate. Face-liveness uses Amazon Rekognition and processes biometric data only with the attendee's explicit consent and only for matching attendees to their own photos, as described in the Privacy Policy.
6.4 Data processing
Our processing of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy and our data processing terms for organizers. Where those terms conflict with these Terms on data processing, the data processing terms prevail.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Services to violate any law or third-party rights
- Sell tickets to fraudulent, illegal, or harmful events
- Attempt unauthorized access to the Services or other accounts
- Reverse engineer or disassemble the Services, or build a competing product from them
- Circumvent usage, rate, or security limits
- Resell or redistribute the Services without our written consent
- Use bots or scrapers except through documented APIs
- Upload malicious code or interfere with the Services
- Use attendee or audience data obtained through the Services to send unlawful or unsolicited communications
We may suspend or terminate access for violations.
8. Intellectual property
The Services — software, designs, documentation, and the Affair brand — are owned by Cybentis Oy or its licensors. These Terms grant only a limited right to use the Services. If you give us suggestions or feedback, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use it to improve the Services.
9. AI features
The Services may include AI-assisted features (e.g., help drafting event content). AI outputs are provided for assistance only, may be inaccurate, and should be reviewed before use. AI inference uses a third-party provider (see the Privacy Policy) on an API-only basis with no training on your content. You are responsible for content you publish, including AI-assisted content.
10. Service availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We are not liable for interruptions caused by maintenance, third-party outages, force majeure, or your equipment or connection.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all express and implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted or error-free, that data will be complete or accurate, or that AI outputs will be correct. We do not warrant any event listed on the platform.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, data, or business opportunities
- We are not liable for the acts or omissions of organizers, including event cancellation, non-delivery, or refund disputes
- Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or the Services is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim
- These limits apply regardless of the theory of liability
These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for gross negligence or willful misconduct under Finnish law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your events, Your Content, your violation of these Terms or applicable law, your violation of third-party rights, or data you collect through the Services.
14. Term and termination
These Terms are effective when you create an account or use the Services and remain in effect until terminated. You may close your account at any time; active subscriptions continue until the end of the current billing period. We may suspend or terminate your account for material breach, non-payment, security risk, legal requirement, or discontinuation of the Services (with at least 90 days' notice). On termination, your right to use the Services ends, we process pending verified export/deletion requests per the Privacy Policy, and surviving provisions (IP, liability, dispute resolution) remain in effect.
15. Dispute resolution
Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact [email protected] and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and disputes that cannot be resolved informally are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Helsinki, Finland. If you are an EU consumer, nothing here affects your mandatory consumer-protection rights, and you may use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/odr.
16. General provisions
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, any data processing terms, and any plan or order terms, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services. We may assign these Terms in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets; you may not assign yours without our written consent. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. We send notices to your account email — keep it current. We are not liable for delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will notify you of material changes at least 30 days before they take effect, by email or in-app notification. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, close your account before the changes take effect.
