This Cookie Policy explains how Cybentis Oy, doing business as Affair ("we," "us," or "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies on the Affair platform and marketing site at affair.events. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a site. We also use similar technologies — localStorage, sessionStorage, and pixels — which we refer to collectively as "cookies" in this policy. Cookies can be first-party (set by Affair) or third-party (set by a provider we use).
2. How we categorize cookies
| Category | Purpose | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Authentication, session management, security, load balancing, and core platform function. The Services cannot work without these. | Always on (no consent required) |
| Functional | Remembering preferences such as language, UI state, and dashboard settings. | On by default; you can clear them |
| Analytics / measurement | Understanding how the platform is used so we can improve it. | Requires your consent |
3. Cookies and storage we use
3.1 Strictly necessary
- Authentication & session — set by our identity provider (Clerk; and Auth0 during the legacy migration window) to keep you signed in and protect your account
- Security & delivery — set by Cloudflare, our CDN and security provider, to route traffic, mitigate abuse, and protect against attacks
- App state — first-party
localStorage/sessionStorageused to operate the dashboard, ticketing, and editor flows
3.2 Functional
- First-party storage that remembers language (
NEXT_LOCALE), interface preferences, and recently used settings so you don't have to reconfigure them each visit
3.3 Analytics / measurement
- Google Analytics for Firebase (Google) — first/third-party cookies and identifiers used to measure platform usage and product performance in aggregate. These run only with your consent.
3.4 Third-party content
- Google Maps — when an event page shows a map, Google may set cookies and receive request data as a map provider. This is necessary to render the map you requested.
We do not use cookies for advertising and we do not sell personal information.
4. Managing your choices
- Consent controls. Where consent is required (analytics/measurement), you can grant or withdraw it at any time via the Consent preferences link in the site footer.
- Browser settings. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and core features.
- Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control. We honor recognized opt-out signals for non-essential measurement where technically feasible.
5. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision; material changes are announced by email or in-app notification.
